Good morning to all!
Welcome to another edition of the Wigwam Fishermans Blog. Tuesday I decided to go war with the Mighty Musky of Lake of the Woods, and the Might Musky might have one the battle, I will hope fully win the war and put a fine replica in my office one day. Needless to say I didnt find what I was looking for, but thank God theres next Tuesday
. I went up to stay at Toms cabin on Monday night and had the opportunity of hanging out with a couple great guys, one of whom was Scott Olmstead of Elk River. We talked about the difference of fishing clear lakes to dark lakes most of the night over Big Fish Kool-Aids and some AWESOME homemade salsa. I hadnt heard much about bobber fishing before, but Ill tell you what, Im going to give it try regardless for the One Musky Im searching for. This section will To Be Continued

Well, as many of you probably know, Lake of the Woods is on fire right now. The Walleye bite as never been better on a consistent basis. Lake of the Woods is spoiling people each and everyday, so if youre on the fence about taking that trip to Gods Country, tip off that fence and head up north to The Walleye Capitol of the World
you wont be disappointed. The tantalizing effect of setting the hook never gets old, I for one can attest to that. Remember, the Wigwam Resort on Lake of the Woods is Paradise without the Passport

Todays Quote of the Day
I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past Thomas Jefferson. As I alluded to earlier, I have started to chase the Mighty Musky, and I think this quote from one of our founding fathers exemplifies my current situation. Im a dreamer and I think this is an excellent way to enjoy your life. Since childhood we all have been dreamers, we all once dreamt of what we would be one day, why have we stopped. Two years ago I thought I was in a job that would consume me for the rest of my life. Im here to tell you to follow your dreams and be happy. I hope this will jar some memories and put a smile on your face
God Bless.

the fish are in the same places. 31- 33 feet on the US/Canadian border was the place to be
it was on fire! I have never caught so many big fish at one time in my life
Lake of the Woods baby, Lake of the Woods. Frozen Shiners and Chubs can be used with similar results out there right now, but I still prefer the frozen Shiners. A Walleye Chop helps considerably, but with a light wind, weve still been having success. The best method has been anchoring and jigging, so if you plan on anchoring in the big lake, the best type of anchor to use is a spike anchor with at least 100 of rope. 3/8 oz Jigs (Pink/Gold, Silver & Chartreuse/Green) with frozen shiners were the golden tickets this weekend and week. We also did some long lining this weekend with awesome success when the wind died down and there was no Walleye Chop. I travel about 2.5-2.75 MPH and let out about 125-150 feet of line with TD-11 Rapalas and Reef Runners. This is one of my favorite ways to fish for Big Walleye on Lake of the Woods. Be sure to be hanging on, because when they hit you better be ready for a good fight. You can purchase your Jigs and Frozen Shiners from the same place that I get them from, Log Cabin Bait, which is about ¾ of a mile south of the Wigwam on 172. I hope to see you all up here, but if you cant make it, keep checking out the fishing report
Ill give you all the hard facts as soon as I find out where theyre hiding next. Good luck and Happy Fishing to all! Thanks for fishing with us and visiting with us at the Wigwam Resort on Lake of the Woods.

My shout out today will go to the Walkers, from Eau Clair, WI. The Wigwam Resort had the distinguished opportunity to have as our guest, Duane and Sue, who were both wonderful people and as it turned out fishermen too. We had a great time chatting when they arrived and found out that we had a lot in common. I hope that you guys had a fabulous time visiting us, because we sure had a fabulous time having you. Everyone spoke very highly of you and your skills with the rods and reels. We look forward to having you back as our guest very soon
youll have to try ice fishing now.
Happy Fishing to all, and to all a good day!
