It isn't that we don't want specific information on a specific lake, it's we don't want ALL the posts about a particular GPS spot on a lake. It's a long story, but we had a few posters here that pretty much posted on one particular area for over a year. At times, there would be 20 to 30 posts a day on this one particular spot. Some on the forums here, and the locals on that lake, pretty much kept this area to themselves and fished it with great success in the past. Last year, on some weekends, there would be over a hundred people out on the ice, partying and taking a lot of fish out of there. I personally started getting phone calls from locals and emails from users complaining about this. We voted and decided that it was not a good thing to have a forum dedicated to this one GPS point. Hence, the rules about how to post information. What we are trying to do is have a wide range of lakes and information posted. There are plenty of lakes out there, we just don't want to concentrate on one. This site and forum was created for the whole state of Minnesota, not just one area.
The power of the Web can work for you or against you. It just depends on how you use it.
If you've got short, stubby fingers and wear reading glasses, any relaxation you would normally derive from fly fishing is completely eliminated when you try to tie on a fly. ~ Jack Ohman, Fear of Fly Fishing, 1988
