chasen,

Concerning the chat room... here is a snip from last week (someone else was asking too)...

I used to go in there all the time. I have seen up to 5 members in there at a time, but no one uses it any more.

One day, late at night, I happened in there and a lady was in there asking about whether I knew of where there were some fishing organizations for women. While I had her there, I searched Google and found a few that might just be the ticket for her. She thanked me profusely, and then I never heard from her again. Go figure. She never posted on the forum either.

Back before I added a bit of security to the registration process, I would find a couple of members in there from time to time that had never posted on the forum. I think they joined just to use the chat room.

Looking over the stats... since May 1 to today, we had 109 members go in there. That averages to about 2 to 3 a day. There were 469 total visits of people going in there. That means that 360 people tried going in there and got the error that it is only for registered users. Since users going in there is so random, they usually miss each other. If I go in there in the morning and someone goes in there at night, it just looks empty. I toyed with the idea of having a notification (green light or something built into the forum) when someone goes in there, I just haven't had time to program that.

Hello all. I am new here and this is my first post. I actually joined a few days ago and was going to post on another thread and got sidetracked. I was searching some stuff on Google today and found this subject.

I must admit, this is the most unique fishing site I have ever visited. There are so many things to read, some useful and some not. I read the story at the beginjing of this post and it really brought up some good points along with other stuff.

All forums must have at least a bit of rules. If you didn't have them there would be nothing but porn sites on here. I like the idea of trying to ride the fence here. We all want information but we do not want to hurt stuff either. But to be able to vote as a member is really cool.

I have a question. As a meber, am I allowed to ask for a vote on something? If I had a website and asked others to visit, could i have uses here vote on it and see if they like it? I would be intersted in something like that. Sometimes your too close to something and you need others opinions.

Just thought I would ask.

Hey Lex,

Welcome to My Fishing Pals. I think you will find the site fun, entertaining, and educational.
Where do you hail from and what fish species do you enjoy pursuing the most?

Good Fishing To Ya,

I am from the metro. As for fishing, I guess I am like the typical MN fihing guy, walleye, pike and pannies.

Im a new user, just started today. One thing I can say is you sure all know how to talk about the moderation of a website, not really what I came here for, but interesting. So instead quibbling about all this stuff that nearly put me to sleep, how about some fishing talk? I am a Nebraska boy who saw his favorite spots overworked and out of stater's come and shoot up all the pheasants. I can relate to not wanting the spots listed. However, Im relatively new to Minnesota and wish I had some more help finding good spots. For the most part I've managed on my own. I learn more each time I go out. I live in the Big Lake area. Anyone want to go fishing?
