I found that with all sites you need to take the info on FM at face value and realize that there might be some bias in the info. I am fortunate becase I have posted on the Duluth forum on FM regarding my favorite lake in the area and I have met one guy that will give me the straight truth about whats going on. He is not a guide or affilaiated with any resort that I know of he is just a local fisherman that knows his stuff.
The best thing to do on FM is find a few guys you trust and get info from the personally. I regularly email this guy and he is more than welcome to give me any help he can. He has even met me at the lake to personally show me hot spots.
So thats my advice. Use the website to get to know and trust one or a few guys and then skip the website and just go to them for the info.
Even eminent chartered accountants are known, in their capacity as fishermen, blissfully to ignore differences between seven and ten inches, half a pound and two pounds, three fish and a dozen fish. ~ William Sherwood Fox, Silken Lines and Silver Hooks, 1954
