Yep, I had to toss it in. The bears that were visiting my station just wouldn't change their timing at all staying basically nocturnal the whole season. Frustrating but not expected with all the rain we had this summer creating a lot of natural foods all year long to keep them pretty fat going into the fall. I didn't see a huge acorn crop this year, so I was hopeful of some late success. I was wrong!
I still haven't made a connection with my friend Craig who helped with that bear mauling. When I do I will post the likely issues that led up to it. A lot of people in the area know this guy, and many of the guys that hunt out of this camp. So I've heard some 2nd hand info but don't care to share any of it or make any conclusions until I hear it first hand.
So another season comes to an end. But the deer season is about to kick into high gear!
