Is it okay if I start another post for the Bass minded individuals on this lake, or do any of you have any friends that could chime in...???

From the looks of the lake report Bass don't seem to be present in the lake. I am sure there are some but not in high numbers. Not sure if it would be worth your time persuing them.

How long are you going to be up there. If you plan on being there a week maybe give it a try for a day. If you want something other then walleye you can also go after the toothy critters.

Nothern Pike can be a blast, you chase them down like you do bass typically. The like lures with lots of flash. Spoons, Spinner Baits that sort of thing.

If you want more info about bass specifically I would start a new thread asking those questions. There are several bass guys here that can help you out. I think starting a new thread will help keep the info clear and the threads on track.

You've gotten lots of fishing tips, so here's one related to one of your other questions. I don't know where the nearest beer store is to where you are staying, but in Minnesota you CANNOT buy beer in a store on Sunday, so stock up on Saturday if you plan on having a few while fishing on Sunday. Enjoy your trip.

Oh yeah the beer question, how could I have missed the most important part. The no beer buying on sunday is a drag, I've driven to wisconsion on Super Bowl Sunday before when I forgot about the beer.

Also alcohol isn't sold in grocery stores, only 3.2 beer is sold there. You need to go to a liquor store.

Good catch Bkchero. Poor guy almost had to fish without beer.

ooo smiley No beer on Sundays....what??? We can't buy beer till noon on Sundays.

Man, and I thought no hard liquor sales after 9:00 was tough!!! smile smiley

We're coming in June 2nd late night, and leave the 9th. Should have plenty of time to pursue everything.

Small world, but I bumped into a guy on the elevator here in San Antonio yesterday. 35 year Minnesota native. He's been to Winnie a few times, and said I'm in for a treat.

I'm about to start looking at the map to see where everything is, nearby towns, grocery stores, etc.

Almost forgot....I guess I can log on to minnesota state parks website and get my license and all???

Yep just go to the Minnesota DNR site and you can buy your license online now. Never done it that way but it seems like a great idea for a non resident. If that doesn't work all bait shops and most gas stations will sell them. They just swipe your drivers license and it prints your license it about 3 seconds. Alot better then the old way they use to do it.

Also liqour stores close at 8pm every night except Friday and Saturday when they are open until 10pm I believe.

I am sure it will be a great trip for you guys, lots of time to do all types of fishing.
