got my new skeeter on order, and counting the days till it arrives. bought a new tackle box, and going through my lures to get them ready. I need open water, the snowmobile has had plenty of use this winter, time to put it away.

ooo smiley

Itch is an understatement!

*I emptied my tackle box(aka boat)and have been organizing for weeks.
*Customized my Save Phace masks
*Cleaned the boat
*Started assembling youth packages for fishing.
*Replaced all my rods, thanks to a good buddy at Kistler.
*Cleaned the boat again
*Lined all my rods
*Drove to Spirit Lake, IA to buy new reels, line, and a whole bunch of goodies. (Fisherman Factory Outlet is awesome)
*Put my plastics into freezer bags and added scent.
*Resorted my lures into based on color, running depth, size, etc.
*Casting in the snow into buckets
*Drove to St. Louis Bass Pro Shop(visited a family member too, but Bass Pro was the main reason wink smiley
*Playing fishing arcade on PS3
*Casting in the house into buckets
*Touched up the boat again
*Reviewed my river maps
*Put on mask, lifejacket, and got in the boat...Sat there...
*Re-read every issue of Bassmaster from last year.
*Worked on a design for a fishing tattoo.

No, I'm not addicted...why do you ask?

I've got the TYEE dusted off and we're headed to Missouri to catch some crappies next week.

In a few days, I will be purchasing my flight from Florida for my annual trek to Minnesota for another opener. I haven't seen my brothers in over 2 years. I wasn't able to make the trip last year for various reasons.
Living in Florida now, all I have is my memories...memories of Minnesota burned into my brain from days, months, and years passed. I fish year round here in Florida...bass are always biting...a buddy of mine took me out to his honey hole 15 miles due south of Carrabelle and put me on Grouper. 110 feet of water. I'd drop my shrimp over the side and watch the heavy sinker drop like a rock until i felt it hit bottom. Reeling it off the bottom, i'd feel the hit and just start reeling. One after the other, we limited in 20 minutes and my arms were shot. I also wasn't feeling the best as we had 4 foot swails and a 25 ft. boat.
Now, all I can think about is plaining out from the dock on water so calm, the air still cold in May...eyes watering and the anticipation of catching that first "eye".

....but best of all is seeing my brothers again....and the look in their own eyes....for the absolute love of fishing.

See you guys soon!!!!!!!!!!
