The run in Duluth has finally ramped up! We filled 5 coolers and every other container we could find last night at Park Point. I'm not sure how many pounds or gallons but a stupid huge amount! Lots of fun, and everyone out last night brought home way more than they need, so if any friends call and say they have some extras, don't be surprised.

The Lester river and all rivers in the area are running low and slow. This has had a very negative impact on the run for all the rivers. However, they will still be running there, just more unpredictable. Last night, the Lester finally had some good action. This is the 1st time this spring. So this week looks like it will be the peak of the run in Duluth. Now is the time to go!

The Knife is no longer the river it used to be for smelting. The private properties have locked nearly everyone out of there. And it's very difficult to get near the mouth anymore. The river near the bridge now has huge boulders near it and has been dug out and is nearly unsmeltable. I would advise going to another river in the area, or to seine on Park Point. I miss the good old days of my youth there. It will never be the same again.

Last night was another huge night in Duluth. The airport area, tot lot, and breakwall all had very good success. Many coolers were filled and people ran out of things to fill. Reports of no more freezer space and hanging up the waders for the year are coming in. It won't last for long so get out there and get em' while it's hot!

It's always fun hanging with Sandburr!!! And even more fun with lots of fish, beer, and friends and family. And that's the way it went down!

And Sandburr was the rookie in the bunch! When was the last time he was the rookie at anything outdoors? Crazy uh? And so the tradition of biting the head off a smelt continues...with a beer chaser! Did you tell your wife about that before or after your hello honey kiss?

Let some young ones borrow a quality net...they sure appreciated it!
