Domino Dave you are a great man!!!!
I cleaned enough to make me stink last night and froze the rest!!!

Turkeys were right on schedule at 7pm last night. The same turkeys were on the neighbors property at 6am and is probably why I see them around 9am over on my land.

I took my brother up last night. He hadn't ever worked Park Point with a seine for smelt before. So we met up with a couple buddies and my son at 9:30pm. We had 5 coolers basically full by before midnight. It's a lot of fun when they are running like that. We were averaging about 3-4 gallons per pull for a while. Things were still going strong when we left. We just couldn't carry anymore. I'm sure the run will continue for a little while yet, but things have to start slowing down soon. It's been a fantastic last 5 days!

Here is Brent, John, and Dave (not me). With maybe 7-8 gallon pull.

And occasionally we get other fish in the net too! A real nice laker!

Dave,

I thought I was going to see you and your buddy on opener, but I see why I didn't. Looks like you slaughtered the Smelt! Maybe next year I can put you guys onto the Walleye Wonderworld and you can put me onto the Sublime Smelt, eh? smile smiley I've always been curious about smelting, just never tried it. Sounds like you made Shannon a happy camper. Nothing like the first few weeks of open water in the up nort country!

Catch'em Fast!

Sounds great. Dang smelt have been running late the last couple years. It's all good, I will get my walleyes in do time. I usually have some big pic's to post every year.

Besides, if I were to catch so darn may nice walleyes like you just posted. It might change my expectations of what success and fun really should be.

It's kind of like smelting, you're getting like 3-4 gallons a pull, and all of the sudden you only get a half gallon and you say "what the hell"...
