Thanks.

Not a lot of talk about this subject in here, surprising. Mention one word about this subject on the other site I'm in & people from one end of the state to the other chime in, even out of staters.. I think people figure it is what it is & cant do a thing about it, or they simply do not want to be involved & accept it. Some wont talk about it as their livelyhoods depend on that lake & dont want people thinking there is any trouble, there are many reasons why people wont be involved... Well, I am not one to accept being bent over & whether we like it/dont like it/accept it, every American is being absolutely screwed with unequal rights put in place by our Federal Government. Then we have our buddies at the DNR, who understandably have their hands tied by this Federal ruling, but, once you become educated with how they do things, what they tell us people, the complete hypocritical garbage they do, vs what they say, it will make you want to pull your hair out! Ponder this for a minute & see if you still have hair after- This year, a decision was made solely between our Aitkin DNR & GLIFWC, to not only raise the native quota, BUT, to LOWER the nonnative quota!!! Only those two were involved in that decision, period. Our DNR, protecting the lake, putting regulations up the wazoo on us, agreed to raise theirs & lower ours!! Like it or not, our DNR wing nuts are regulating us for Native benefit, our DNR will do everything in their power to make sure the natives are taken care of, at our expense, what is equal/fair about that? Many will say I'm being racist- My Anger is aimed smack dab at our Federal Government & our DNR. Our government is responsible for all this, they have created the division of the American people with unequal rights & that fact pisses me off! This unequal rights is THE reason the Feds will be forced to open this again & there will be change. Support Steve Fellegy- C.A.S.S. Today That Begins The End

Domino your post about giving up the native rights,Thats right on!! We are only hearing what the stop the netting crowd is telling us.
This is a federal Govt court ruling. If someone went back and went through the court recordings,They would find the natives asking once again for promised payments for the land ceded by treaty, all the way back 150 +/- years .The natives said for payment of either the original offered price with interest added according to the US federal bank rates OR the current price of the land, which ever is lower! They would accept payment AND relinquish ALL rights given in the treaty for payment in full. Our elected officials said NO as they have for over 150 years,Our officials set up partial payment with all rights in the treaty to stand. That was when the natives started to exercise those rights! Once again no fair payment.
Twas our Govt officials who included gambling and sovereignty,If the whole unfolding of this treaty chit was looked at.The naysayers would be after the Govt officials,In stead they attack the natives with I cant do that why should you!! Our govt. officials said they can!! and still haven't paid for stealing land with a phony treaty that said payment would be received! For ALL ceded land.
I always stick with a underdog and in this case there is no one to blame but govt refusing again to pay! according to a treaty.
Russia got paid for Alaska,France got paid when they claimed the Louisiana in the name of the King and sold it to the Govt of the early USA.But the natives were and yet ignored!

Of all he things I ever done I aint never had too much fun

Keeping America clean and beautiful is a one mans job."Mine" We all need that attitude

I don't recall reading about the local tribes asking for payment in dollars when the latest landmark case was before the Supreme Court. How much money do they believe they're owed? How much of that is interest? Do they have contracts that include the payment of interest or would adjusting for inflation be enough to satisfy propriety? As for this -

"The naysayers would be after the Govt officials, Instead they attack the natives with I cant do that why should you!!"

Both natives and govt officials are at fault, should be disparaged and often are. And when it comes to netting spawning and pre-spawn fish like the Indians do, I doubt most sportsman would engage in that wasteful stupidity even if they were allowed to. Sportsmen generally favor preserving and shepherding natural resources, not wasting them.

Indians had a good reputation as resource stewards. Not any more.

It cracks me up when it is pointed out that there is very little discussed here on the whole netting thing... This has been around for many years...
