I realized I never posted an update to this thread.
Well after getting laid off in July I finally fond a new job in early December. It was a long process and I had more interviews then I want to remember but fortunately my wife and I came through the unemployment circus relatively easily. I now know why I made all my financially conservative decisions in the past. When the money stops coming in it really makes you take stock of your past financial decisions and fortunately my wife and made a lot of good ones.
Its nice to be working again and its even nicer to be working for an organization that is doing great things.
