NoFish, What did he have for weapons with the Jets though I was just thinking that the Vikes have so many ways to punish an opposing defense that a Qb with a brain could really play some headgames with the opposition. In my onetrack mind he should be able to keep himself from being hit.Think about it 3rd and 5 who's going to get the ball.Any way you look at it somebody with Farves intelligence is going to send you a present and it will be good you just might not like it.He doesen't even have to throw the ball all he has to do is make them think he's going to throw it.Then it's A.P.going for huge yards provided he can get into the secondary.Oh man the possibilities. The Greatest Show on Earth.

Favre will have to prove he can make the throws in order to keep the defense honest. The defense won't gaurd against the long ball just based on Favre's past accomplishments. If he can't make the throw now the defenses will know that pretty quickly.
If he can make all the throws he use to be able to make then Yes, the defense will have a tough time. But I don't think he can make the throws any more.
Everyone seems to think that Favre will be able to come in here and be the same old Bret Favre. At 40 years old each season is probably going to be a little worse then the previous one as the strenght, speed and mobility start to fade. He was just average at best last season and I guess I'm skeptical that he'll be able to live up to even being average this next season if he comes back.

NoFish, you have some very good points there,I guess I was just wandering into my vikings dreamland.I can't wait to see what happens because I'd bet the house that he will be our quarterback this year.

I wouldn't bet against him being here thats for sure. If he does come here I'll be very happy if I have to eat a little crow and admit I was wrong.

I'm not forgetting last season AT ALL. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in case you guys missed it!
I do agree with NoFish that the injury that ended the Jets season is a big concern. If Favre were healthy it would be a No-Brainier for me and I would love to have him.

Farve only needs to be capable of half his "old throws" and the vikes would be ten times better than with T-Jack who can't even do a three step drop right. T Jack ha a hard time getting the ball into petersons chest on HB runs. No defense even concerns itself with a long ball from us. not last year nor with farve would they. So that's not a change. They'll key on the run just like the last few years.. It's not just because we can't pass well. It's even more because if they don't stuff the box we'll run up and down the field. Farve showed that he still has an arm for quick throws, slants, stop routs an stuff. I watched him make plenty. He's very good at reading defenses and calling plays at the line. He's still sharp and I think last year only made him smarter. His brain is the biggest asset he has. After that it's his arm strength which is the big question.
Nofish, If he can heal enough to make a third of the throws he used to make I think we would have a great team... I think you overestimate the talent he played with the last few years and how much of a beating he took compared to what would happen in MN. We can easily keep him protected because we can spread a defense so much and run so many plays with a good QB..
Personally I want him to retire because I hate him so much. But I think if he heals to the level he was at last year he would be really good on the vikings. But it would only last a year or two and then it would be over and unless he helped us into a superbowl it would be a waist of valuable time.

The pro bowl is a farce. He was barely in the top 10 in the AFC in QB rating last year. He made it on name alone.

No, he took a team that won 4 games the season before to a team that was leading the best division in Football until his injury ended that and the Jets Miracle run. Thats why the players Voted him in. I do agree the Voting is done too early in the year and Favors season long totals were not deserving of the Pro Bowl. But at the time of the Voting very deserving to say the least.
Not a Farce at all.
Look on the Bright side if Favor comes back I'm sure Madden will follow....LOL

Thats reason enough to hope and pray Favre stays retired.
How much do you want to bet that Madden is living in a tree outside favre's house holding a set of binoculars.
