Good question Jason.
Last year as I was tying I was getting bored with the color combos so I tried out the blue/chart.yellow combo.
Then this guy who was working at ole's on BS came over to buy some more jigs.
I was almost out ,but I had a few freshly tied B/Y's so I said try these.
Well after working some docks he comes back & preceeds to tell me how he drilled fish on it,specifically slabs.
That was last fall.

So as the ice was going out this year I decided to do a few more and test them out for myself.
I have heard blue is a color the fish see realy well.

CK,

I totally agree with you about the downsizing. It can at times be the critical key between catching many fish or virtually no fish. I guess that is the third part of the progression...depth, speed, size, action, then color.

I am not surprised to hear about that charteruse/blue..looks kind of aqua to me, color being a great one. As I said, rarely does lure color catch my attention much. However, that color combination does. Looks like you have a winner with that one !

Good Fishing To Ya,

I have to say Jason that it has been just drilling the fish.
the color is more like a dark powder blue ,almost electric blue.
The tails are dyed and the variance in batch colors is not too tight.
They do vary.1 tail will be duller while another brighter.
I wish I could hand pick them in liew of mail order.

As the water is warming I'm finding I can go to bigger/longer hair jigs.
Loby's plastics in the Drag'n Mag is also preforming well.
I do notice the hook sets are better with my jig as the hook is hitting more often wereas the plastics are not getting all of the way in their mouths.I know the agression level will pick up so those baits will start to become more positive in the hook set.
I have been opening the hooks to see if that would help.
