Did you pick up some new fishing equipment in the off season, maybe a new boat or even a cabin?

Myself- got some Micro & Spring Bulldawg's that look to produce this spring, several more Pacemakers and other Sennett tackle. A few Warrior Jerk Baits from Ducktail and a mid-LowRider I cant wait to use, thats about it for more lures...got off cheap, no rods, reels, or other spendy stuff--made the Mrs happy!!

What equipmnet are you excited to put to use on the water in the upcoming 2006 season ?!?!

I'll figure that out Next weekend at the show in Superior.. unless the Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) women's hockey team makes the NCAA frozen four (with a win tonight). If that happens I'll be down south instead.

One thing 'new' I'm going to get this year, new to me anyway, is the Scumfrog's that Scumfrog talks about. Otherwise, I dont' have anything new in mind for this year yet.

sportsnut218, just remember to wait until you feel the weight of the fish before setting the hook with those scumfrogs. Your going to love it when those big old bass come up and slam it. I can't wait..

I'm not getting any thing new this year cause I have to much now and with out a boat it's hard to move every thing I need. So maybe next year I'll have one.

I learned the wait for the weight strategy when I was trying a few brands of rubber frogs. I saw a small scumfrog video clip and figure they might be perfect for the river in the early season after the spawn, and then later when the weeds and stuff are here.

With the other frogs I was trying to set the hook like I would have with a soft plastic.. it took me a month to actually get a hook set and figure it out laugh smiley

I use them all summer, any time of the day, open water and in the nasty weeds. And I have caught fish each place. So don't just think they are for mornings and around the weeds. Use them all over if the fish are hungry they'll come up to what splashing up there.

Yah. Deceiving the little lady again. I made the mistake last year of showing my wife some of the new musky baits I bought. She thought they were "pretty," then asked me how come I never brought home any muskies.

So, I told her about "catch and release." She just shook her head, and took off for the Maplewood mall. Dang! I left the price tags on the lure boxes. Now she's going to go spend all that money on useless things like clothes and such.

I'm just glad I didn't show her the new trolling reel I bought. I'd be in real trouble.

My wife has her own boat and she knows I musky fish and never go anywhere without buying baits, she's also a Nurse and besides healing the sick she can put a real HURT on a guy ,so I just say "yes dear" and leave it at that.

I think the new Musky Innovations Chatterbaits are going to be great producers this year. I've never been a big user of plastics, but the Real Fish might have to get some use as well, especially on those pressured waters. And then there's Red October Baits' Vibe Tubes...if people would quit coming out with new stuff, maybe I could save some money!!!
