Just wondering if anyone has been fishing out on LOW lately. I'm headed up there in a few days for the weekend, I was just looking for a report, besides Icemans (no offence iceman) to see people are catching anything. And if yes, on what????

I had a buddy who just returned. Over a 2 day period between four people, they caught 30 fish. If I am calculating this right, that is less then 4 fish per person per day AND they said they really had to work for them. Not typical of LOTW.

...I was up there the weekend before last fishing out of Arnesen's on Rocky Point.

1st day was real slow....1 sauger and a couple of perch. 2nd morning we went out to 16 mile reef. Starting fishing in 19 feet of water without a bite. Around noon, the resort moved our shack out to around 24 feet of water. Between 1-4 we caught approx 22-25 walleyes -- kept 16. Nothing big, all keepers between 14"-16".

We tried every color and combination available, but we had the best luck with glow red jigging spoons with minnow heads and dead sticking with colored hooks (red/orange/char).

Good luck. Where are you staying?

Had a few buddies up there last thurs/ friday. Thursday the first one two arrive in the morn caught some saugers in 32 feet out from pine. When the other guys arrived with their sleds they went out to garden, knight, bridges area and did ok but still a little slow, kept 6 i think with a some small ones thrown back and a couple slot fish. One guy went home thursday with his limit of 4 a piece. Friday the other two caught roughly 50-60 fish somewhere out on sleds, not sure where but i am getting some gps cordinates for this weekend myself. One guy also hooked 3 big fish two got off (maybe pout) but he landed a 29.5 incher that was as fat as I have ever seen. Jigging spoons with blue, pink, silver. chartreuse plain hook. gem-n-eyes, and buckshots. Fish were not interested in the jigging raps they usually swear by. Good luck and let us know how you do. I will be up friday-sun out on sled.

More good news from LOW the bite continues to be very good, afternoon has been the most productive time with sauger and walleye biting right until dark, a lot of the walleyes are suspended which means the feed bag is on and with stable weather forcasted it's going to be good fishing through the weekend IMO.

Good Luck!

From another website...

"This past weekend several of the groups targeted both crappie and walleye and were successful at both. With the warm weather the ice in the current areas showed signs of deterioration but this weeks temps should give us time to cash in on the best ice fishing of the season!

Some of the crappie locations are now seeing pressure so we have had to move in on some other areas. But the story is the same, use standard crappie presentations tipped with minnows, waxworms or Berkley Powerbait Nibblers. The blunt of the catch is coming one foot off of the bottom. The morning period produced best over the weekend.

The walleye bite could be described as spotty. Good catches are being made but results change daily. On the US side the Lake Trails area and small humps south of Oak Island are producing some nice catches of fish. Gold jigging spoons were the ticket this weekend. Depths from 16 to 22 feet being best during the morning and evening.

The fish weren't easy on the Canadian side but with some effort plenty of fish were caught. One group had a sixty fish day on a hump and another group caught less but had fish up to 26 inches. The perch fishing was poor. Some fish were caught but not in great numbers, it continues to be a struggle."
