Waconia does not have the high population of Largemouth other Metro area lakes do but the quality is there. One way to locate them in the summer months is to find the Walleye which this lake is well known for. Some of the bigger Bass in the system will be mixed right in (watch out the Musky suspend on the perimeter of these schools). Water temprature can be key to cracking the Largemouth code on any body of water. We use this method exclusivly on the Chippewa Flowage to locate the Largmouth due to the stained water conditions and other problems a flowage can present day to day. Bass are extermly predicable when it comes to water temp, once you narrow it down and locate them then its a matter of lure choice/presentation and color. Study up on how how water temps effect Bass and you will find what your looking for. There are some VERY GOOD bass fisherman that visit this site, I will be interested in seeing what they have to say and learn a few things myself.

Are you talking about summer bass or winter bass?

Well were do I start? I love top water and use buzzers and frogs all day long, so that old saying of top water is only good in the morning and evening, isn't so true.

Weeds, weeds and more weeds. You have to think like the bass. Where is a good spot to hide and ambush pray? Water temp is not so critical in my opinion. I've caught big bass on top water frogs in 95 deg heat in 2 feet of water, so you know that water was warm. I've also caught them in 18 feet of water on a weed edge on sucker minnows.
