This is a little silly and not a big deal, but I happened to run into somebody I didn't know and we started to talk about fishing. I told him he should check out My Fishing Pals and he said that he had just joined a few weeks ago. I asked him what his username was and he told me. He also said that he got the usual "canned" response. You know the one. Whenever a new user joins, I welcome them with...
Welcome to My Fishing Pals. Glad to have you aboard!"
I had to tell him that this was not a canned response. This is the way I welcome all new members. I do go on-line and check for new users and welcome them all this way. I never really thought about it before, but I can see how some would think it is a canned response. Anyway, I wanted to tell you that I personally welcome all new users with this greeting. I guess maybe I'll change it up a bit or add more meaningful stuff to my posts. Don't know... we'll see.
I am also hoping that as new members join, we can all greet them and welcome them to the forum. It is a good way to get them to come back. It also makes them feel welcome and gives the forum friendly feel. I think this is a good thing.
A good way to get your post count up too, eh Hopper? ;-)
Web Dude...I personally think your reponse is adequate and welcoming, don't know what else you could say. You seem like a really busy man and I appreciate all the time you take to make this forum GREAT!!!!
If you've got short, stubby fingers and wear reading glasses, any relaxation you would normally derive from fly fishing is completely eliminated when you try to tie on a fly. ~ Jack Ohman, Fear of Fly Fishing, 1988
