This site has always been open to controversial subjects. It is one of the reasons why this forum is getting so popular. On some threads, there is bashing between fishing sites and webmasters. Even bashing against individuals. I see a lot of you have cleaned up your posts. I think this is a good thing and so do a lot of other members, I am sure.

So instead of bashing each other, why not unite and bash an organization that could really hurt the livelihood of people who depend on the fishing industry. I am talking about PETA. There were some older threads that were started here and they kind of petered out. I am going to start it all again. I found a website that was very interesting. Why not take a look...

After checking it out, come back here and then check out this...

http://petakillsanimals.com/

"The problem with most radical animal rights groups is they play on the emotions of people who, of course, want animals treated ethically (who can disagree with that?). They use emotional pleas and outright propaganda to pad their own pocketbooks and defend their criminal activities in court, while only a tiny fraction of their funds go toward actual animal welfare.

They attempt to brainwash our children through various programs, including a comic book magazine called GRRR. Kids Bite Back. One comic depicted a woman stabbing a rabbit and was headlined, 'Your Mommy Kills Animals.'

In a day and age when many people have conveniently forgotten that meat comes from animals and not the supermarket, this type of publication can get traction and do long-lasting damage to our children."

Bryce Lambley

Interesting, don't you think?

The guy lost. Too bad, it was a hilarious site.

The following is an article and then an exchange of emails between Lisa Seaman (PETA) and Michael Doughney (Creator of People Eating Tasty Animals)

Too bad. It seems the ones with the deepest pockets always win...

Here's a clip form one of his hate mails...

"I hope you and your little fan club starve to the point where you
slaughter and eat each other. I hope you get so cold, you skin all your friends and wear their covering. I hope you are tied and beaten until you are paralyzed, then sent to a labratory and tested on until you die. I would laugh and clap my hands if you were all locked in cages and treated as machines. I've never seen a sicker, more revolting web page than yours-- a desperate display to support your narrow-minded ways. That page is the mark of an insecure, mentally ill man."

And I thought I had controversy on this site ;-)

Michael Doughney has gotten himself in a whole lot of controversy.

Some things for you to keep in mind...

* A recent handout created for children, titled "Your Daddy Kills Animals," features a grinning lunatic-Dad gutting a fish, and the publication warns kids to keep their puppies and kittens away from Dad because he's "hooked on killing."

* PETA's 2001 federal income tax return disclosed a $1,500 contribution to the "North American Earth Liberation Front" (ELF) -- an environmental terrorist group responsible for tens of millions of dollars in arson damage. Last week the FBI announced six major arrests of ELF arson suspects. PETA's $1,500 check to the ELF is the only such donation to be publicly acknowledged by any American individual or group.

* PETA's other tax filings have revealed a $2,000 cash payment to then- ALF spokesman David Wilson, and a $5,000 gift to current federal Animal Enterprise Terrorism defendant Joshua Harper.

* During the 1990s, PETA paid over $70,000 for the unsuccessful legal defense of ALF arsonist Rodney Coronado after he set a fire that destroyed a Michigan State University research facility. In a sentencing memorandum to the court, the prosecuting U.S. Attorney wrote that PETA president Ingrid Newkirk "arranged days before the MSU arson occurred" for Coronado to send her stolen documents from the crime scene and a videotape of the arson being committed.

* In 1999 No Compromise (a self-described "militant, direct action magazine" for supporters of the ALF) published a list of its financial benefactors. That list included PETA president Ingrid Newkirk, two other PETA officers, and PETA itself.

* At a 2001 national animal-rights convention, PETA campaign director Bruce Friedrich told a large audience of activists that "blowing stuff up and smashing windows [is] a great way to bring about animal liberation," before adding: "It would be great if all the fast-food outlets, slaughterhouses, these laboratories and the banks who fund them exploded tomorrow ... Hallelujah to the people who are willing to do it."

* Since 2002 PETA has paid an activist named Gary Yourofsky to promote animal rights to U.S. middle-school and high-school children. Yourofsky is a felon who was convicted of committing a Canadian farm burglary for which a claim of responsibility was issued in the name of the ALF. Yourofsky told The Toledo Blade in 2002 that he would "unequivocally support" the death of medical researchers in an ALF arson fire. PETA first hired Yourofsky after he gave this interview.

"Ask your mommy how many animals she killed to make her fur clothes. Then tell her you know she paid men to hurt and kill the animals. Everyone knows. And the sooner she stops wearing fur, the sooner the animals will be safe. Until then, keep your doggie or kitty friends away from mommy-she's an animal killer!"

Quoted directly from the comic book.

That guy gutting the fish is wearing a suit. Evil business man catches fish on the way home from work and kills them at home for pleasure, I guess.

PETA at it agian when will they ever learn they can not win..it may be never they are skrewing up the trapping too..

NATIONAL BILL TO BAN TRAPPING

A bill introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives would essentially ban trapping across the country.

House Resolution 3442, introduced by Rep. Nita Lowey, D-New York, and a host of other anti-hunting members of Congress, bans the use of foothold traps nationwide and prohibits the possession of fur derived from an animal caught by that type of trap.

“Congresswoman Lowey is vehemently opposed to trapping and has introduced identical legislation in previous sessions,” said Tony Celebrezze, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance director of state services. “If you ban foothold traps, you are taking away the most highly utilized trapping tool. Trappers and all sportsmen nationwide need to work to defeat this bill and protect their heritage.”

House Resolution 3442 would destroy the sport of trapping and the entire trapping industry. The sale of fur, including hats and coats, would be prohibited if there is not proof that it was obtained without the use of foothold traps. Trappers as well as fur manufacturers and distributors would be susceptible to federal charges.

“This bill is bad news for all sportsmen, even if those who have never trapped or never plan to do so,” said Celebrezze. “Anti-hunters look to defeat sportsmen one piece at a time and they believe trapping is vulnerable. Sportsmen cannot allow this legislation to get any momentum.”

The bill has been referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.

Take Action! Sportsmen nationwide should contact their U.S. representatives and ask them to oppose HR 3442. Explain that the leghold trap is a valuable wildlife management tool and banning interstate commerce of fur would be detrimental to the economy. To find your congressman and for contact information, call (202) 224-3121 or use the Legislative Action Center at www.ussportsmen.org.
