Where will you make your first attempt?

Do you go where the ice forms first? Or wait until it gets to your favorit fishing hole?

For me it the channel between Chisago and Lindstrom as this is for the most part where the ice forms first. But as soon as there is ice I like Centerville for early ice. I hope the ice comes soon as I just put the boat away. There is however still some good shore eye fishing going on!

I will be on lake with all the fish as soon as it's safe. With me that's toward's the end of Dec. when there is at least 6-8 inches. If can't hold a fourwheeler, it can't hold a Big Daddy smile smiley

I like to wait until some of the local city lakes freeze up good.
I dont head North until the ice is drivable. I may miss some fish but hopefully I'll live to fish next year too.
Be safe, Ice picks and a wistle only cost a couple of $'s

Not sure, but depending on ice conditions, it's a toss up between South Long and Chisago.

Speaking of ice, I missed out on a last minute open water trip with my brother-in-law to Mille Lacs. Dang job jar.

They broke ice with his Lund heading out from Isle and were the only ones out there for an hour. Then others came out after he broke a channel. Lots of perch were caught.

Won't be long now.
