I thought I'd shake things up with something that will most likely be controversial.

Trump has had a month in office, how would you grade his performance thus far?

I'd give him a D for many reasons.

1. His big initiative was the travel ban and it couldn't have gone worse for him. How it was written and delivered was clearly unconstitutional and any revisions will now likely face a harder time because the overall intent will likely be the same. The ban likely could have held up had he and his team been smart enough to do things the correctly but it seems like they rushed it and just threw things together without thinking about the constitution.

2. The "Fake News" BS. Its got to the point where direct quotes from Trump are being labeled as fake news by the administration. The administration is trying to put themselves above scrutiny by undermining those whose job it is to report on the administrations activities. If Trump has his way he'll trash the medias credibility to the point where he can get away with anything he wants by simply yelling "FAKE NEWS" when it gets reported. Its frightening.

3. The hypocrisy. The hypocrisy is truly outstanding with the Trump administration thus far. Many of the things he wanted to lock up Hillary for he and his administration have done themselves.

4. The follow through on promises. While some say Trump is following through on his promises and they like him for that I see it very differently.

He promised to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it. Well he's trying to build a wall but US taxpayers are going to be paying for it at an estimated $20 Billion not including ongoing maintenance and patrolling. I believe the price could go up substantially as there also a lot of unknowns about building the wall in some of the more remote and rugged areas where there is currently no way to access, also they will need to acquire a lot of private land which may exceed estimates.

He promised to "drain the swamp" and beholden to nobody. Instead he nominated people (DeVos) who essentially bought their nominations and the rest of the nominations stink of cronyism.

5. His ties to Russia. You can't overlook the issues with Russia. Even if you're a Trump supporter you have to be concerned about what part Russia is playing in the administration. There is far too much smoke here for there not to be any fire. Trump can yell "fake news" as much as he wants but there are firm and indisputable facts already established. Its also alarming that Trump's only concern is the leaks from the White House and not the fact that they are leaking illegal activity. A man of conviction and principle would be more concerned with the illegal activity that is being leaked.

I think if Hillary had won the election I'd be creating a thread and giving her a failing grade as well. Right now I'd take anyone that can simply start acting presidential rather than spending his time governing through Twitter.

First I know he's not the Politician duJoir. A Refreshing voice in the conversation of Politics as usual and a really crappy press.
Give him some time.
I'd rate his performance B+ to A-.

The press isn't the real issue, its just what Trump wants you to focus on. The media has been very hard on him but for good reason. He spends most of his time blustering about something or another on Twitter or spouting about some made up event, or made up stats. Its the medias job to call a president out on that type of stuff. If Trump would just shut his mouth and do the job without making up his own truth then he'd take the ammo away from the media.

I really don't talk politics on a fishing forum, but,,,,I bet your candidate lost the election. YES; the press (most of who voted for the old hag) is quite biased towards the left.
pretty tough to evaluate Trump after barely 3 weeks in office; and get used to it. thats how he operates. and its very refreshing compared to the last guy.
The Government is going to be run more like a business, now; instead of being guided by a "community organizer" or what ever the hell he was.

Nope, my candidate wasn't even on the ballot, and no it wasn't Sanders.

The problem running the country like a business is that a business and a government are not the same. A business is run to support the shareholders a government needs to be run to support everyone. Besides which one of Trumps failed businesses would you like him to model our government after?

Frankly I'll be happy once Trump at least starts seeing the constitution as something to be followed instead like a list of rules he needs to break. I mean I thought the constitution was the end all and be all for conservatives and Trumps using its as toilet paper.

I'd halfway agree with you if this country is functioning well with politicians running it. Its not, and the govt shouldn't be run to serve all, thats why were in trouble now.
Trumps position on the constitution?? site me on where he's gone wrong?
Anyhow....politics on a fishing forum will bore me quickly. I'm getting close to ending my part on this matter.

How about a topic like this?

Give me your top 5 ways to be a successful angler, and rank them. there...now we can have a debate.

Rong, his issues with the constitution are pretty well noted. Most notably with his travel ban being thrown out by the courts twice as being unconstitutional. Well see how round 2 of his ban goes, its supposed to be released this week I think.

Lets remember . the appeals courts were lefty's. the president has every legal right to protect the citizens of the USA.
Enough with this stuff already. No more political crap from me.

Did you take a look at my fishing question?
Curious how you respond to it.

thanks.
