My son and I went out for the day yesterday to do some power deer scouting and trail maintenance. We brought one gun for easier traveling. We ended up seeing 7 grouse and 1 woodcock, and got 5 of them. Not too bad for a days work in the woods! Now I have some wild game meat for the wild rice soup....mmmmmm!

The deer numbers look to be improving. Saw a decent amount of sign! Hung a couple trail cams.....!

Where about are you hunting? I'll be heading out next weekend to do a little deer scouting in zone 259 near Lake George.

No time to chase any grouse but I've only see a few up in our area the last couple years. Of course I only find them when I'm sitting in my stand with nothing but a .270 and a few twigs to throw at them.

I hunt up in the Ore area. The grouse numbers seem pretty decent. We went up again this weekend to finish up with trails and stands. We picked up 5 more birds. Saw a bunch more than that, heard many more, and missed a few. I'm sure that if we had a dog and just concentrated on birds we could find some easy limits. Plenty of other hunters, and they all seemed to be satisfied too.

Most likely the Birds probably noticed the great "Domino Dave" coming down the trail and laid there for him to shoot! They never had a chance...

I seem to have the other problem when out hunting or fishing. All fish and game seem to be so terrified of the Great Hunter Nofish so they run and hide so I can never find them. smirk smiley

Domino you just make sure you bring me another one of those great "cold" Minnesota bucks this year! I have been saving that bottle that you tipped me with since last year to have a drink with you. wink smiley

This years weather forecast is much different from last years! No frozen solid deer this year! Which may make your job tougher! Hurry up so they don't spoil.

As for a big one.....I will do my best, no guarantees!
