While we were up deer scouting we did manage to find some grouse too. We really didn't hunt for them, just took advantage of the ones that got in the way while scouting. No dogs, well human ones were used...that would be me! I would say that the bird numbers were pretty descent for us, and other hunters seemed to be satisfied as well. Usually the ten year cycle runs really low in the years ending in 3's and 4's, so I think the hard winter helped them a lot and provided better numbers for us this year.
We've pretty much wrapped up any bird hunting this year. Pretty much what I expected. Not tons of birds, but enough to keep us happy, and more than I expected. We did get a few more including a nice spruce grouse. Too bad it was hit pretty hard, otherwise it would be pretty on the wall.
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~ Chuck Clark
