Spent the weekend with Tap out on the water and though the weather was crap, we did manage to have some fun on the 'eyes. Only 5 in the well and a lot of dinks in there, but enough to keep us occupied. Tap caught a smally that looked about 6 lbs... that was a hoot. Also caught a 23" that needed to be put back. I happened to hook into a 38" northern... very fat and heavy. Caught it on a plain hook with a leech and an ultra-lite with 6 lb test. Holy Crap! Broke the rod too...
I was able to get out on BSL for a couple hours each day that weekend.
I couldn't find the keepers, lots of small eyes (6-12") and one 18.5". Lots of snakes as well, snagged one nice crappie. I mostly moved around drifting / trolling. A couple guys next to me in a brown crestliner insisted on anchoring / slip bobbers in the same spot both days, they had #'s but all the ones I saw them pull up were small too.
I will be giving BSL another shot this coming weekend, hopefully better luck.
People who fish for food, and sport be damned, are called pot-fishermen. The more expert ones are called crack pot-fishermen. All other fishermen are called crackpot fishermen. This is confusing. ~ Ed Zern, 1947
