I just got back from my annual camping trip near Ore, MN. Spent the week in a tent with all the rain all week long. Had to spend a couple extra days due to the fact the roads coming home were all flooded and or closed. We didn't feel like a massive detour...so we stayed, oh darn!

A few observations, the water levels were very high even before the record rains arrived. So they remained very high when we left. The weed beds were way behind in my opinion for such an early spring. Behind last year at this time bigtime, kind of weird. Also, the mayflys were plentiful, but we did catch plenty of walleyes, no real big ones this year.

The real bonus was the giant bluegills were committing suicide! They were hanging around any vegetation in 2-5' fow. They hit leeches, minnows, worms, waxies, plain or colored hooks, jigs, or ice flies! It didn't matter! There were also a few crappies, walleyes, northerns, perch, and bass mixed in as well!

The better spots seems to be areas that had any transitions from sand or muck to rocky bottom. Edges of points in the shade were good as well. Lots of fun! And lots of people seemed to have some success.

Enjoy the pic's!

This one was a 10.5"

Here are a couple 11"s

An 11.5" that was caught by a 87 yo lady who didn't want to be photographed. Awsome fish!

A typical evening catch!

Domino Dave,

Very nice gills Dave! Those are such a blast on an ultralight. I have also been fishing them with fly gear as well. Lot's of fun!

Thanks for sharing the pics. Looks like a great outing for all concerned.
