We had relatively good success on the lake. Over the weekend, Woodtic and I caught around 50 fish with 17 in the slot. We were lucky enough to be able to contribute some to the annual fish fry and take a few home for the wives. The fish were caught in 3 to 8 feet using mostly plain hooks or bottom bouncers tipped with either leeches or rainbows. Finding rock bottoms next to drops was the key. For us, the fishing was pretty slow... we had to really work at it to get those fish. This was over a 4 day period so it wasn't like they were jumping in the boat. We also caught a bunch of northerns, the biggest was about 7 lbs which Woodtic picked up... a heck of a lot of fun on a light rod with 6 lb test. Friday, we did manage a few very nice crappies, typical of that lake.

We ended up with about 30-35 fish for the weekend with only 3 in the slot for 3 guys and about a day and a half of fishing. I could'nt believe the amount of boats out there! ooo smiley On opening morning you could barely get through the narrows... I did get to spend it with my son who is back from school and a good friend mike. We on the other hand were using lindys with crawlers, leeches and rainbows. Fish didnt really have a preference. I do really hope the 10-14 inch fish do grow. I was also really impressed with DNR/Sherrif patrol. We were checked once really good and two more times lightly due to him remembering us. I also seen him check homeowners on there docks and unatended lines.

We did pretty well,
Caught about 25 walleyes with 5 in the slot. More northerns then I would like to talk about, lol. All were caught in 5-7ft of water on leaches and minnows and with bobbers and colored hooks. Definitely had the best bite right around sunset. Sorry I missed seeing both of you guys frown smiley

My wife got out of the hospital Saturday late morning and demanded that we go straight to the cabin so she could fish. So we did just that, she is feeling better now and back to work.

Was it just me or did the ton of 13 1/2" to 13 7/8" Walleyes we caught from last year shrink? smile smiley it sure seemed like it. confused smiley

Anyway it was great time. Rick and I boated about 35 Eyes for the 2 days with 8 keepers and 2 perch. Sunday night was our best night with 5 in the box. Rick got all of his fish vertical jigging with a white 1/8 OZ glow jig tipped with a leech in 5-7 FOW and I landed mine on a mixed selection of techniques and baits, "bobber, lindy, vertical, pitching, drift" in 2' to 10'.
Mornings were real slow for us with the bite picking up in the afternoon and peaking at dusk!

The Fish fry was to die for as expected and thanks for the donation of fish again this year Dude!

Good times, good people as always~~~~

Pier!
