I keep reading about looking for walleyes on the first break on the opener next weekend, but what kind of a changes in depth should I be looking for and how rapid a change. Anyone care to share their opinion on what they consider to be a break.
Walleyes like edges. Edges allow them to trap baitfish against these "walls" for an easy meal. The break is simply where it drops off. When you look at a contour map try to think in 3D. I hope this helps.
Even eminent chartered accountants are known, in their capacity as fishermen, blissfully to ignore differences between seven and ten inches, half a pound and two pounds, three fish and a dozen fish. ~ William Sherwood Fox, Silken Lines and Silver Hooks, 1954
