Well...

There are 2 types of fishing forums here in MN - commercial and non-commercial. Not trying to slam any other sites. Some of them are very successful and have thousands of users. But I kind of like the philosophy of what Webdude has got going here. It works for me. That's kind of why I hang out here. WebDude could probably explain it better then me. It seems this comes up about once a year.

As a little defense to Fishingminnesota. They do limit some posts and try to avoid people advertising there store, lodge or guide service on the forum. But they do not delete reports posted by guides or lodge owners that haven't paid them.

I would say that 95% of the posters on the site are just your average fisherman with no affiliation to anything. And the guides that post info they post info on there own without mentioning what service they work for.

I have seen so many post about recommondations of guide/charter services and lodges and not all of the places that get recommended are sponsors of the website.

Tons of good info and even more great people. I have had many people send personal emails (you can post email addresses and phone numbers) to me trying to make sure that I catch fish.

I had one guy that I never met before call and give me a weather report for the duluth area because he knew I was coming up for the day and didn't want me to come just to find that it was pouring rain all day. Once he knew I was coming anyways he head out to the lake to meet me just to make sure I atleast caught some fish after driving 3 hours just to fish in pouring rain all day.

It is a great site still even though it has a commerical mentaility. I make both this site and fishingminnesota daily stops while at work.
