I don't know about anyone else, but I spend a fair amount of the winter searching out deals on gear and bait for the next season.
This year, I decided I'm going to focus on spinner baits for bass. I've actually never thrown a spinner bait. Well, I have, but they are far from a "confidence" bait for me. Since they seem to have gone out of style lately, I'm thinking it's a good time to show the LM's an old friend. I picked up a few nice lures at the NorthStar Custom Baits Christmas sale.
I also scored a few knock-off hollow body frogs from eBay. I'm a big fan of frogs, and have wanted an Imakatsu Frog from Japan for a while, but I'm not paying $20 for an imported bait; especially one that Northern's like so much. So I was psyched to snag this knock-off for less than $4 the other day.
Got that along with Kopper's Live Target Frog knock-off. Still waiting on the package to arrive though.
A few months ago Outlet Bait & Tackle had Z-Man Chatter Frogs on sale for an unbelievable price - less than $2 each. So I grabbed one in every color. Chatters are usually what I throw in place of a spinnerbait. These "frog" versions look like beefed up "regular" chatters. These will probably be what I start my season out with at the end of May.
How about anyone else? Score some good gear (rods, reels, baits, electronics) that you're just dying to get wet?
