Last weekend was our annual Old Boys trip to Lake of the Woods. We set out early on a Friday morning and show up at the crack of dawn to begin fishing at Long Point Resort. We have a mix of 7 guys that have stayed there for well over 20 years. Kelly, Barry, Russ, Joyce and Eon go out of there way every year to make sure their clients are on fish and most of all safe! This past weekend there was still no vehicle traffic but for good reasons. The ice thickness really fluctuated as you went over toward Twin Islands. Most areas had 16. Like most guys everyone grabs a few new jigs and spoons for the year with high hopes. This year was no different except that one really stood out fishing wise. The Custom Jigs and Spins slender spoon was by far a stand out. We were fishing mainly in 28ft of water and the amount of flash this thing puts out while dropping is amazing! It also has a flutter drop with just enough weight to make it a stand out. This thing produced the 28 walleye pictured below but would also catch Tullies. Once again props to the Lake of the Woods fishery! Enjoy the pics.
wasn't much room but we got the job done! Mom wasn't too upset that Dad and I cleaned them at her house. If it was at my place our island wouldn't have been big enough. this year has been the best season I have had at LOTW.

If you've got short, stubby fingers and wear reading glasses, any relaxation you would normally derive from fly fishing is completely eliminated when you try to tie on a fly. ~ Jack Ohman, Fear of Fly Fishing, 1988
