The trout season ended officially on October 31 for stream trout in the lakes, reluctantly we will put away our gear for now and wait for the winter season to open January 14, 2012.

Ice-out fishing for crappies and other panfish was a little inconsistent this past spring due to high water and cool weather, but we still managed to catch some nice crappies and sunnies. Trout fishing in the lakes was good from the opener right through the summer with it slowing a little in the fall. Our biggest rainbow this year was 21”, but we had a few that hit the 20” mark. October turned out great for both weather and fishing with a lot of nice fish caught on the fly rod. We caught rainbows, smallies, and northern on the fly rod - all in the same outing a couple of times – it was a great time to be out!

We want to thank those that went on a trip with us, we hope everyone enjoyed themselves! For those of you that stopped in to the fly shop during its first year in operation, we appreciate the support.

We held a number of free fly rod casting classes this summer and were pleased with the turnout and interest shown. We’ll schedule a few for this spring and summer for those interested.

We’ll be offering fly tying classes this winter beginning November 16 and we will be holding these every other week through January 11, 2012. We may schedule more, if there is interest? Call the shop to sign up or ask questions @ 218-640-3164.

We are offering ‘Destination Travel’ for trout and saltwater species through our Fly Shop at very attractive prices. Roxanne and I are hosting a fishing trip to the Mexican Yucatan in March, 2012 we have 6 spots available if you would like to get away from the cold and fish for tarpon, bonefish, snook, and permit this winter!? Give us a call at the Fly Shop @ 218-640-3164.

Book your fishing trip for 2012 to get the dates that you want. We offer trout fishing and fly fishing for bass, crappie, and northern.

Stop in and check out our FLY SHOP the next time you are in Perham. We are right on Main Street, next to Lakes Café.
