hello everyone. hopefully this is the right area, but I'm new to the twin-cities area and i'm looking for a place to fish.

i grew up on the chesapeake bay so i have zero lake fishing experience and for the rest of the year no boat, so it's all pier/shore fishing for me.

i am looking for advice about where to fish and what to use. i'm not particularly interested in trying to catch monster fish as i am just having fun. i look at fishing like i look at hunting. deer hunting was fun for years, until i went goose hunting, which was fun until i went duck hunting.

i'm just looking to do some fun catch and release for me and the lady around Blaine.

feel free to share any advice about fishing in the area. thanks.

Hey tiger187126,

Welcome to My Fishing Pals. Glad to have you aboard!

I moved your post to the Reports forum, hopefully you will get some responses here. Maybe someone else can chime in too...

There are a few spots you might want to try, though shore fishing really limits you. The boat landing at Bald Eagle has a fishing dock and you might be able to pick up some crappies and bass. I see people fishing there once in a while. I know the White Bear has some spots you could probably find for shore fishing. That's all I know of around the Blaine area. You might also want to check out these posts for around the metro area...

Hey Tiger187126. Welcome to MFP.com!

You can pretty much catch fish in every pond in the Metro.

I was going to suggest picking up this book:

However, it wasn't $200 when I moved here!!! shocked smiley So click on the DNR web site and ask anything you want here!

thanks for the replies, i went to lochness which is by me and there just wasn't anything doing. coon rapids damn was packed and i didn't see anybody catching anything. although when you walked across it you could see all the big fish hanging out in the middle.

crystal lake looks like it might be a good place so i'll try that today. i'm hoping to get a boat for next year, but for the rest of the year it looks like i'm stuck on the shore.

$200.00... you gotta be kidding me!

Be it known that I will part with mine for $60.00. I am also always open to discussion on a good trade. A bargain if ever there was one!

I've met Ms Smith. Seems like a very nice woman. Good looking too. I'm a big fan of hers and somewhat awed by what she's accomplished.

I know, isn't that crazy?! When I first saw that, I thought it must be a scam so I went directly to Amazon and looked it up. Nope.

However, I just clicked on the link and there are a bunch of new, used, copies going for around $60-80. Still steep. Nice try Fisher & NoFish!
