Hey guys I'm new to the forums. I've been fishing in MN for 3 years now. I have lived in MN for 5 years. I live in SE MN and don't really have anyone to show me the ropes and decent fishing spots in SE MN. Any one from SE wanna give me some suggestions on where to go? Or am I better off taking a trip a little further away? I've been fishing up in Crosslake the previous 2 summers while on vacation and its a blast. Trying to find a place where I can fish successfully down south.
Where abouts are you in SE MN. The different pools of the Mississippi river can have great fishing. I've really only fished pool 4 and its been limited but it has good walleye and bass fishing along with some panfish in the backwater areas.
Let us know where you are located and what species you are looking for.
Thanks for the replies. I am in Rochester. As far as species go I'm up for anything. I am a very novice fisherman so I dont know much technique. Up north I pretty much just troll around and cast with crank baits and catch northerns and a largemouth here and there. I think it would be fun to target something like walleye but like I said I'm lacking in the technique and knowledge department.
Hey BB10EM. Welcome to MFP.com! The best way to learn, IMHO, is to get out there and cast away. But asking questions and getting tips from places like this can really help too; so I'm glad you stopped by. The Zumbro River, north of Rochester, has some Smallie spots.
Wild Goose Sports is a tackle shop in Rochester. Check in there and ask them for a good spot to start out on. Local bait shops are usually very willing to help out someone just getting into the sport. Future businessman for them; you know?
People who fish for food, and sport be damned, are called pot-fishermen. The more expert ones are called crack pot-fishermen. All other fishermen are called crackpot fishermen. This is confusing. ~ Ed Zern, 1947
