Greetings folks. Looking for any tips anyone might have on fishing Lake Andrusia and connecting bodies of water. Heading up that way 10-18 Jun (staying at the Finn n Feather on the SW side). First time on the lake and the Cass Lake chain; fishing walleyes mostly with some perch and crappie for the spousal unit. Fished mostly Leech over the years when on leave from the AF. Any info would be appreciated.
It's been a while since I fished Andrusia, but if I remember correctly, the walleye population is pretty good. It does get stocked by the DNR every year. The fish have a tendency to move around a lot from one area to the next. Seems that it's a popular lake for early season walleyes. Here's a clip form the DNR...
"Walleye abundance in 2009 was at an all-time high, indicated by catch rates in experimental gill nets which have doubled since the mid-1980s. This trend is consistent with increased walleye abundance in Cass Lake over a similar time period, as monitored through annual large lake sampling. The last three assessments yielded gill net catch rates that were greater than what is typically expected for this type of lake. In 2009, walleye ranged in length from 7 to 23 inches and were composed of nine different year classes. The 2005 (age-4) and 2006 (age-3) year classes comprised 65% of the sample. Growth rates are similar to other Bemidji area lakes of this type."
Last time I was up there we dragged leeches on either jigheads or plain hook. Sorry, I don't remember colors.
