If any of 'myfishingpals' are dropping lines at or north of the Mille Lacs area...they are biting in very shallow water! Crappie fishing minus a foot! I don't know about the big lakes like Winnie, Leech, Mille Lacs, etc., but for the smaller 1000+ acre lakes they are hitting good in very shallow water. Reminds me of two or three years ago when we searched for countless hours and finally found them on rocks in 1-2 feet of water! It's crazy I know, but we've been catching them in less then six feet for 1 1/2 hours now. Just a couple cents!

Even eminent chartered accountants are known, in their capacity as fishermen, blissfully to ignore differences between seven and ten inches, half a pound and two pounds, three fish and a dozen fish. ~ William Sherwood Fox, Silken Lines and Silver Hooks, 1954
