Saved Crappie Tournament was a Good Catch|
It may have been a rainy day on April 30th, 2011 but the
smiles of the children participating in the 44th Annual
Adult & Kids Crappie Tournament on Lake Minnetonka
were brighter than the sun could have ever of been.
Surprisingly these laughing and grinning and faces may
not have ever of happened if it wasnt for the actions of a
few individuals. Saturdays event was originally
cancelled due to the lack of sponsorship directly related to
the recession, but thanks to title sponsor Mactavish
Benefits, Maynards Restaurant in Excelsior, and the
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society this years event
The annual Crappie Contest is not only a great kickoff to the Metro area fishing season, but it
also benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. It means the world to me and my family that
someone kept it alive because my daughter, Abby, is a Leukemia survivor said Scott Thoma,
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society volunteer. Without all of the past efforts to raise money for
research and better treatments, there would be a good chance Abby would not be with us today.
What a gift!
As word spread throughout the Western Metro
additional sponsors were added including:
MySeatFinder.com, Buffalo County Bucks, Shoreline
British Petroleum Station, Gander Mountain, and
Pheasants Forever. With all proceeds going to the
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society everyone that
participated had a meaningful impact. Congratulations
to all of this years winners!
Mactavish Benefits hopes to sponsor the event next year
with its plan to encourage awareness and support for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, youth
fishing programs, and maintaining events within the community that have a positive charitable
