Well, how is everyones turkey season going?
I have heard things are tough out there this year. I was out this morning, and the tom's were gobbling hard on their roost, but shut their beeks after their flydown, and haven't been moving much during the day. I'm hunting in east central MN.

I'm thinking that the winter has been real hard on the birds this year, and maybe the population is way down, since I'm not seeing any birds in their usual places. I did hear at least 3 different tom's in different directions this morning, but nothing after they flew down from their roosts.

What are others hearing and seeing?

I watched a couple nice Toms strut across the yard saturday mid-morning at my place. They had three hens in tow. I gave a few clucks and got a gobble out of them! wink smiley

This morning was much better. Didn't shoot a bird, but we were in them, and had our chance until a wary hen didn't like what she saw, and spooked the tom's off, I hate when a hen, who wasn't invited by the way, comes in from behind and messes everything up. Couple more days to go, but at least we were in the game today. If it doesn't snow too much up here, tomorrow may be the day.

This morning we waited to set up after they started gobbling on the roost, snuck as close as we dared, and drove them crazy with my call named the freak! Always fun in the springtime!

Sand Burr, too bad you are not in my zone, one tied to a post is kind of nice once in a while.

Too funny Sand Burr, I have the same luck. I have only gotten picked once outta five years. That time only one hen came in and walked around my pop-up blind for about an hour. The weeks before and after, Toms and Jakes were all around the area. confused smiley
