Looks like people don't use the hunting forum very often, but I thought I'd give this a try. I'm picking up my yellow lab pup at the end of the month, it has been a long, long wait and I'm almost giddy. I've been waiting for her for over 6 months! (Mostly because I didn't want to housebreak in the winter)

Anyway, none of my friends are hunters and I thought it'd be fun to find someone else who has a new pup or older dog they are trying to train and work together. Some things like honoring are hard to teach without another dog or two.

If you are interested, I'd like to hear from you!

If you have not already found someone for this I just got my lab and would love some help training him. I know how to basic train but have no idea on how to bird train except for what I have read on the internet. My house is on three acres so we could do it here with pretty minimal distractions. Or I'm open to going to you too. My land has good woodland with lots of border and i would be up for getting some grouse out here. He's 9 weeks right now and I hunt pheasant and grouse along with duck in the fall. Never have with a dog but I'm pumped up for it.

Respond to this or pm for something more detailed

I got the hook up on some hens if yall need some birds. Also I have some good books to pass along to the next person in need. I think I have three maybe four books that cover lots of information. I purposely bought books with different techniques and opinions so that I cuold judge for my self what I like and don't like for my dog.

Let me know if your interested.

Hey Neal, how's it going with your pup? How's his training going?
Mine is just shy of 10 weeks now and doing well... she's got one heck of a stubborn streak, but is a natural retriever (always brings things back to hand without prompting).

Starting puppy training in Hugo on June 14th

Here she is getting her first duck!

Here's a couple of dakota. 26 lbs at 12 weeks, what a moose. He's the same way, very good at listening when he wants to. Starting to get better though. Good on the leash, good retriever, not so much on the realese command yet.

Real good nose too, you should hear him popping when he gets a scent.

Going to get some pheasants this weekend.

He's very social if you want to meet up at a park sometime.

Happy hunting, I'm going back outside. As you can tell by the first pic I got rocks to sift.
