Wow. I'd love to hear a review too. That seems like a great idea. The only catch I see is that I'd probably stay up to 3AM planning and then sleep through my alarm that's set to go off at 5!

Now that is awesome! So...in ten years is there going to be a product that makes the fish jump into our livewell? Haha. Amazing how fast this technology is moving in the fishing market.

It appears it has 226 Minnesota lakes right now, but I am sure that will grow. What would be really awsome is an App that would allow users to search/define from a web browser... could do that by adding a fee for membership and porting the software to a webapp that lets users do all the connections online to a central database. No need for proprietary software if they went this route. No downloads either, just upload the data they are manipulating into a db and write the app to access there instead of a download with a poprietary db that needs to be installed.
Another plus if they went this route would be there would be no need for upgrades... just update the db and walla... next visit through the browser would have the latest and greatest. I would think this would be easy to do.

I picked up a copy of this software and have been playing with it for a week or so, you can save #30 off of list if you find a new copy for sale on ebay.
I bought this software (MN version) primarily for the fish location predicting, hoping it would help reduce wasted time on new waters. I pulled up some of my most familiar lakes and honey holes. Unfortunately my honey holes did not match the software very often. Maybe that means I'm fishing in the wrong spot? The limitation of the software is that it only knows about features you can read off of a map, depth, angle of the sun, drop-offs, and maybe nominal water clarity. The software is blind to man-made structures, boat traffic, inaccuracies in the maps, seasonal changes in water clarity?, etc.
The fish search only has about 6 of the most popular freshwater game fish available. You're not going to find pout or whitefish on the search menu.
At the ice fishing show the sales rep said that a smartphone app was coming out this winter to compliment the computer version, this would be really nice because I don't want to be printing out hard copies and the transfer waypoints to GPS option still is a little more work than I'm interested in. To-date, I've been storing the waypoints in my head and going from there.
The jury is still out for me on how useful it really is. If anyone else has tried the software I would appreciate hearing what value you are getting out of it.
If anyone wants me to check their honey hole vs. the software, PM me the GPS coordinates.

I started out with Contour Pro 6-7 years ago.It has only 3 downloads and the disc is no good.It will still download but only for 30 days.I upgraded right from the Lake Master store in Little Falls and got the most recent of all upgrades.I got it last July? Aug. Just now they are offering the upgrade at a cost. I bought directly from them. The program is excellent (i am not a computer guy) BUT I can do most things with it as its fairly easy to use. I asked two years ago if they would survey Diamond Lake in Kandiyohi county and get the map at 1 ft intervals.I waited till the lake was surveyed then bought as a upgrade from the Contour Pro. I dont stop heremuch but if anyone has questions I will try to answer them. This Elite disc has unlimited downloads,I was told it has a embeded registration # in it so if my computer dumps on me I can download anytime I would lose it.Thats to tech for me so I called and they explained. Questions??? I think the elite is great!!!

Like I said its a great program,Now instead of transfering waypoints to my handheld GPS. I just bought a Hummingbird 987 with the lakemaster Mn chip.Which now I can share waypoints, and keep a log on the contour Elite.I am anxious for open water to see just how well the two compliment each other! I found a really cheapplace to get the lakemaster chips 40 bucks cheaper than most stores. Also the bird I bought was 140 bucks cheaper than others.Check out the link and see id the Elite CD is available there.Fine prices!!My kink for the bird you'll have to search out the CD yourself. http://www.hodgesmarine.com/Humminbird-Fishfinder-597ci-Hd-Di-Combo-Down-Ima-p/hum408120-1.htm?click=7482

this smells of a gimmick to haul in fishermen. Best way by far is to spend time on the water. Am I missing something here??
