The reports for the Kamloops and salmon are starting to come in right now. The next 3-4 weeks will be prime time usually. As the ice melts off the big lake, the trout begin to stage in front of the river mouths and prepare to move up stream for spawning. I believe the salmon spawn in the fall, but follow the trout in the spring looking for a easy meal of their spawn and other river critters. So this time of the year you will catch both in the rivers and near the river mouths.
Spawn bags and looper bugs (dark haired jigs) with either nightcrawlers or spawn work real well this time of the year.
Also, watch the regulations and keep only the trout that have been clipped (stocked). The natural spawning trout are to be put back.
Good luck and be safe.
