I read Dennis Anderson's article on how the Big Bad Republicans are trying to hold the increase on fees and taxes. He states that "Hunters and anglers might be the only subset of Americans who have throughout history voted to tax themselves again and again to benefit conservation." He is correct in that assumption. But what is not mentioned anywhere in the article is the fact that the Lottery and the new amendment that was enacted that guarantees money to the outdoors was supposed to fill this void. Here we go again! Dayton can't wait to increase anything he can to bring more money to the coffers of the MN government.

He also states that "Adding support to the Dayton and DNR fee-increase proposal, Minnesota hunting and fishing licenses -- which usually represent the smallest annual expense of hunters and anglers -- haven't gone up in price since 2001." Well that is true too, if you are looking at just the price of the licenses. But what about the millions that are drawn out of taxes and the Lottery every year which were supposed to be used for just such purposes? And what about all the other taxes and fees that have been increased that are related to fishing and hunting. Don't you get it folks? We already pay over 50% of our income in fees and taxes... it all goes to the chronies running our government and they sit back and dictate where all the money should go. They will nickle and dime you to death all in the name of something that is good while stabbing you in the back with more taxes and fees. Give me a break... "...the smallest annual expense of hunters and anglers..." - Who is he kidding? Us anglers and hunters also pay property taxes, US, state and local taxes, fees for trailers, boats, licensing vehicles, taxes on ammo, fishing gear, bait, gas, food, et. al... not to mention the taxes the manufacturers of these products must pay that is passed on to us as the consumer. I bet you dimes to donuts, I gave the state of minnesota at least $10,000 last year for my right to fish in the great State on Minnesota... the license was just another fee of the long list of taxes and fees we must pay each year to keep the behemouth government rolling. At some point, we have to draw the line, don't you think?
