Hit forest lake today. 9 ft to 16 ft. about 30 holes fished. 12 to 15 produced nice number of perch. Most were small bigger ones did move through and were aggressive. Easy to catch with small jigs (ratso) and wax worm. Also fished shiners, fatheads, raps, and spoons. jigging raps got a couple bights. Shiners got a some bights and a couple perch.
First thing that happened within two minutes of setting a line in: My friends mom sets her pole down, pike grabs the shiner and pulls her rod right down the hole. I've had this happen numerous times when out with people so I immediately new what presented the best odds of retrieval. I stuck on the big jigging rap and jig up and down getting it really swinging. Caught the pole a few minutes later and pulled it up. I don't think they believed me when i told them I have caught probably 5 or more poles the same way in the past.
Anyways, fishing was alright but we didn't catch much to keep so no rewards to speak of other than a spending a great day on the ice.

If you've got short, stubby fingers and wear reading glasses, any relaxation you would normally derive from fly fishing is completely eliminated when you try to tie on a fly. ~ Jack Ohman, Fear of Fly Fishing, 1988
