Since the other URL thread was steering a little away from the reports I thought I'd start a fresh thread with a full report from this weekend.

We left the Twin Cities at 4:30am on Friday morning and we were fishing by 11am. We rented a 4 man sleeper from Cookies on Upper Red Lake, he gave us a great deal and we were not disappointed at all. The accommodations weren't fancy but we had a nice warm place to fish with bunks that were actually pretty comfortable.

As for the fishing it was a little on the slow side but there were still fish to be had. We threw a wide variety of lures, colors and presentations at them and we couldn't come up with any sort of discernible pattern. The only thing we could figure out was that they wouldn't touch the bait if you were actively jigging. All the fish came on dead sticks or rattle reels, not even a nibble while jigging. We had fish come on pink glow, green glow and gold.

The weekend totals were 6 walleye between 16-22 inches, all but 2 were keepers which was nice. We also had some perch and 1 hammer handle pike.

The bite was certainly a morning bite, between 8-11am, I think the latest fish we had was maybe noonish. Nothing from maybe 2pm until the next morning.

Cookie sure did what he could to put us on fish. He offered to move us to a new spot in hopes of finding the mother load, with our help it took about 45 minutes to pick up and move, we were back fishing in under an hour.

Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

16 inch eater. We had 4 fish just like this one nice a fat and made a great meal.

21-22 incher. This one hit on the rattle reel about 10am Sunday morning, it was the last fish of the trip and the biggest.

This might be the real trophy for the weekend though. A lot of hard work went into this.

All in all it was a fun weekend. Sure we'd have loved to catch a few more fish but its not always about the results, the process can be equally enjoyable. Hope to make it up again sometime, if I do I'll give you a call Cookie.

Well it was nice to see all the house catch fish this weekend. makes a guy think he is doing somthing right.
Jill,Collin,Kendra and Kurt did well in old minnesota and had action most of the weekend. The guys in idaho were with them and did better then last year Willard thought last year the house was jinxed. They did not do as welll as minnesota but did manage to catch some fish.
Dave and Dawn had a little bit a action after dark the first night and took home 5 nice sized fish, I think dave said that had to be over 14 if he was going to keep them. The guys in california were kurdish and very nice guys. They did not do as well but were only here one night. Every time I stopped to check on them they wanted me to have a glass of wine or brandy. I tried to explain to them I do not drink while working so I had a shot of brandy with them satursday night while making the rounds. The next morning they wanted me to have some wine with pepsi. I tasted it and it was actually very good. I will be checking on the guys in florida in a bit but last night they had a nice batch of fish in the sink when I stopped to visit. Utah also had action but they used it as a day house and took home atleast 8 keepers.
Blue thunder needs a alternator belt and yesterday I headed over to Daves to work on the red baron. We needed to weld on a new hook for the block and tackle and also work on the block and tackle. I also had to check where the plow frame bolts on and darn if the nut was gone. She sure take a pounding out there. I will be moning all the houses this week and hope to get some fishermen in montana and florida for the up and coming weekend.
