Planning an ice fishing trip to Lac La Croix to fish for both lake trout and walleye. Never been there. The lake is approximately 34,000 arcres. Any information as to where anyone has had fishing success on this lake would be greatly appreicated.
A friend of mine was up there last weekend. He told me the fishing was pretty slow, though he managed to pull in a 7lb trout using a silver spoon at 50 feet. He had a couple more hits but nothing was brought up from the hole. All hits were in the late morning and all were probably trout. Ocassional flurries probably kept the fish away, but he said he was comfortable since there was no wind. Biggest problem was the slush on the lake. Up to 4 to 6 inches made for a hassle pulling a portable.
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~ Chuck Clark
