I have a client in the Cities that is looking for just this type of thing. He has an 80's style Lund aluminum that he wants a floor put in and have the boat restored. If you do this type of work, let me know and I'll get you in contact with him.

Yup, we could use a shop close to the twin cities that's GOOD at this kinda work.
There's one about 20 miles east of St Paul, but I'm not satisfied with the work they do.
There's a really good one 100 miles south of St Paul. I'd drive the 100 miles to use them rather than go the 20 miles to the one I don't care for.
But sure would be nice to have a good quality shop closer than 100 miles away.

Hey onemorecast56,

Welcome to My Fishing Pals. Glad to have you aboord!

I got a Lund that I am going to need to paint. I've always worried about the decals, though and I am not sure how to deal with this. Do you take the decals off and replace them when the boat gets repainted?

Also, is this something you could do in your shop?

Just wondering... confused smiley

Hey onemorecast65. Welcome to MFP.

You’re going to be surprised. There are thousands upon thousands of boats here in MN. Lund, Crestliner and Alumacraft are based here, I do believe. But older boats are for sale everywhere and all the time. A lot of new owners need help getting them shipshape. Lots of guys want to deck out their aluminum V-hulls too. I’d imagine a resourceful entrepreneur would be able to gather new clients quickly.

I just had a bad experience with my shop. It was mechanical, but I won't be going back to those guys for anything. Keep us posted.
