Hello Everyone, Hey I'm wondering if any of you know of game farms where me and my wife can go shoot some pheasants in the next week or two. 1 to 1-1/2hrs from the twin cities would be great. I know there are some out there, but the ones I have found you have to be a member to hunt at. If anyone has some ideas taht would be great! Thank you,

Rocky Bay Hunt Club in Rock Creek MN. It's about 1 hour north of St Paul, off 35, east on hwy 70, about 5 miles. No membership required. Super nice people, great fields for all levels of dogs and hunters. Tell them Domino Dave sent you.

Oakwood Game Farm is in Princeton... probably about an hour drive. I'm pretty sure they are open to the public but I can't remember if i maybe went to a different place in the same area. It's been a while.

Well, We ended up going to Rocky Bay Hunt Club on Saturday. They put us on a small field of our own with 6 birds. They lady was very nice who helped us, however we were right next to the school house and we did have a group of hunters on one side of us. So, being the very safe hunter that I am I would prefer not to shoot towards the school house or the other hunters which really limits the directions that you can walk the field. Other then that it was a really nice day and fun to see our puppy work those birds. bought = 6 birds saw = 4 birds brought home = 0 birds - didn't even get a shot off Thank you Domino Dave for the suggestion.

That's a good field for young pups. Sorry you got squeezed though. One thing they can do for young dogs is mark the bird sets with a flag so you can be patient and let the dog work and learn in specific spot. Here's a thought though. Call back and see if you could go back and do some scratch bird hunting. Those 6 you paid for are out there somewhere. Probably in another field or off the property, but somewhere out there. By the end of the year there will be over a 1000 scratch birds out there somewhere that people didn't get. I'm glad you had a good time.

Yeah we really did have a nice time watching the dog work and getting out for a walk. Good idea Dave I might just do that! Again thank you for the information! No big deal about getting "squeezed" at least I didn't have to clean any birds - lol
Thanks,

Bobber, I live just West down 70 about 10-12 minutes. If you would like after December 15th (Mexico trip) you should come up and put that dog on some grouse! I have 60-100acres you can roam around on.
