Well, my dad is 75, and still can close the deal. He found this guys bedding area, made a makeshift blind, and dropped this 12 point bruiser opening morning, while hunting on the ground from a stool. He doesn't have too many years left in the woods, so I think he'll enjoy this one for a while.

Wow. That is one huge-ass buck. Got a field-dressed weight?

And a cart to carry it out. The old guys know what they're doing.

Hey Dave,
Was in shot in MN? If so what part? I'm not a deer hunter, but that is a huge trophy for the wall! Congrats to you father!

Yes, it was shot here in MN. You know, out in the woods. I will not mention the area due to the obvious. But it is in the north country. Weight? I don't know yet. I haven't heard from the butcher or my dad. We have shot some real biggin's though, 279,267,250's, I'm sure that this one will be up in that area, but not likely the biggest. That yellow cart had no chance of holding that buck, too small. We had to use the full size, heavy duty, orange sled. He did fit that perfectly in that one. Well except for his rediculously large head.

His smile.....I think he looks more stunned than happy!!! It's always hard to believe when a good opening day plan works out to the tee.

I'm actually getting a little tired of posting pic's and stories of my families deeds. I'm thinking it has to be my turn someday soon.

Here's a little encouragement for your dad, as well as the rest of us young whippersnappers. The Detroit Free Press has been publishing one deer hunting story a day and this one is about a 94-year old retired dentist who shot an 8-pointer on opening day in Michigan. Webdude please hotlink, thanks.

Ain't that a hoot! My dad is a retired dentist as well! He'll just need to keep it up for 19 more years.
