My name is Tony, and I am currently deployed in Iraq right now. Today I had the opportunity on a day off to go fishing in one of Saddams lakes. The experience was fun, it was very relaxing and provided me much time to relax and unwind. It was great to do something that made me feel like I was at home. Such experiences here are few and far between, and boosts our morale incredibly.
Unfortunately the equipment that we have is less than effective. Were using French fries as bait (We can catch Carp here and there with it, but only with a little luck) and have a very limited supply of lures.
Im writing in hopes that I can possibly receive donations of more equipment. I am by no means asking for state of the art stuff, used is definitely fine. Im just hoping to have a good stockpile of the equipment so I can give others the means to experience the fun I had today.
Anything from rods, bait (wax worms would be ideal for the climate out here), to tackle would be wonderful. If you cant, I understand completely. But it never hurts to ask.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Ill be happy to answer them. If you are willing to help, please let me know and I will provide you with my mailing address. Thank you for your time.
Also, being that this is a public forum I'd like to find a way to verify that who I am talking to is actually willing to donate and they are who they say they are for security purposes.

Even eminent chartered accountants are known, in their capacity as fishermen, blissfully to ignore differences between seven and ten inches, half a pound and two pounds, three fish and a dozen fish. ~ William Sherwood Fox, Silken Lines and Silver Hooks, 1954
