Hey guys...

My son and I are planning a long weekend. We're planning on hitching the boat, packing a tent and heading out for 3-4 days to try some new lakes. We were thinking about pitching a tent in the area of Mille Lacs as a base and striking out from there.

Does anyone have some suggestions of campgrounds (preferably with electrical hookup for battery recharging) and other lakes in the area?

Thnanks a bunch !

You should consider the Army Core of Engineer campsite on the North End of Big Sandy Lake. This of course will depend on the size of your boat also. You do not need very big boat to travel the waters around the McGregor/Palisade area. Mille Lacs is nice but a good stiff wind will make for a misreable day!

That's what I figured... I'm only in a 14' tinny so I'll probly stay to the more moderate sized lakes.

Why not try Kathio state park just north of Onamia,Got Mille Lacs to fish, the Rum river,Ogechie lake, Shakopee lake, Lake Onamia all connected by water.
