Been dragging some rapalas in Crosslake, just outside the bay by the dam. About 15-18 ' water, caught a nice size crappie and a couple of 3.5lb northerns. Been using the solunar tables published in the paper the last couple of days as sort of a guide. So far, fish have hit during the peak times. Caught 26 inch walleye that weighed in at 7 plus pounds in Trout-20 ft. of water, draggin a green and gold colored rapala 60 ft behind the boat. Grandma caught it, took 25 minutes. Big thrill for her. Caught the fish off the point on the east side as the lake turns east towards Manhattan Beach. Also caught a 4 lb northern just north of Camp Knudsen in Trout dragging a chartreuse rapala in 18ft. of water. The pace hasn't been real fast, but sizes are getting bigger. Going to work the western half of Whitefish next week, along with more attempts in Trout. More reports in a week or two.
Even eminent chartered accountants are known, in their capacity as fishermen, blissfully to ignore differences between seven and ten inches, half a pound and two pounds, three fish and a dozen fish. ~ William Sherwood Fox, Silken Lines and Silver Hooks, 1954
