Went fishing last week up in the Orr area. Fishing was ok, nothing to brag about, until the big one that didn't get away took a minnow under a slip boober in 5' fow. 4 big runs, down wind (25-40 mph), ended with a 31.5 incher 12lber in the net. It might have made 32" if I had someone holding the middle of her up in the pounding waves. Long battle on 5' ultralight 6lb test. She was too far gone to revive so she's headed for the wall. My 17 year old kid has officially stole my lucky horseshoe! Which truely is a "good" thing I think.

Hey Domino Dave... Very Nice! I resized the pics and brightened them up a bit, I hope you don't mind. I also added 2 of them to the pics pages... they will stay on the homepage until they get bumped off.

Your personal photo album is located here...

Thanks!

That's a great point Sand Burr. He will spend a lifetime trying to upgrade that one, and likely never will. My father who was fishing with us when he caught it, is 75 now and has never been close to one like that. Nor have I. And we are a pretty good fishing family. He has a monster 8 pointer on the wall, a nice bear to his credit, and now this. Spoiled at 17. But for some reason I don't think he has plans on retiring from hunting and fishing.
What's everybodies best eye? Mine is 29.5"

Mine's 29.5" too, from Lake Wenasaga in northern Ontario. I was trolling a $1.50 5-inch blue-and-white minnow from a fishing discount outlet in Brooklyn Park (gone now, I think) and bouncing it off the rocky bottom in about 23 ft of water when it hit. I was going fast enough that it water-skied behind the boat and I reeled it in without much of a fight.

Except for the fly-in lake I fished where the walleyes were mostly 4 lbers and fought great, I haven't been impressed with the fighting ability of walleyes, probably because I don't usually use ultra-light equipment.

Gimmee bass or pike or muskies anyday. Walleyes are good eating though.

My biggest was a 28.5 out of Mille Lacs. TapTapTap and I went out on one of the launches for the night bite and we brought our own rods and tackle along. I was using a St. Croix ultra-lite with 6lb test and I caught it on a jighead with a leech, bottom fishing while everyone else on the launch was bobber fishing. Some of the people on the launch were actually ticked off when I put her back. ooo smiley

Congratulations on a Great catch! Thanks for sharing the story and the pictures.

My PB walleye was 30" caught (& released) with a crawler on a Lindy-rig on BSL. Was just before sunset on a Sunday, car was packed, cabin was closed up, everyone else had gone home. Only one other boat on the lake in sight. I just thought I'd try for a couple for dinner when I got home. So no witness, no camera but she's still there (I hope). I'm still pursuing for a second "interview" with photo opportunity.
